Hurricane Preparation: Home

When it comes to hurricane preparation, one of the most critical things to watch out for is your own home. Especially living in Florida, properties are hit hard during hurricane season, and action usually must be taken to ensure your home and properties are safe. With that said, here are a few tools you can use to protect your home from hurricanes!

Window braces- especially if you live on the coast, having something to protect your windows is critical. Hurricane shutters that go out the windows are useful, but if you are looking to save some money, plywood can also do the trick. Cut plywood into the shape and size of your windows, and hold them in place inside your home can serve the same purpose.

Sandbags- at this time, counties usually offer sandbags for people to protect their homes with. This is done by enforcing the small cracks under your doorway, where in extreme rain, can cause water to seep into your home.

Cleaning- clean up your yard area, and trim any trees or bushes that have overgrown. During times of extreme wind, anything outside can become destructive as it is sent flying into your home and other possessions.
